South African singer, songwriter and model MaWhoo performed in the country on Sunday.
He performed for the first time and put out a lively set that won the hearts of patrons.
Organised by Impakt Events, the concert—which delayed to start due to technical glitches— spilled over to the early hours of Monday.
Famous for the track ‘Bengicela’, MaWhoo—real name Thandeka Ngema—gave fun lovers a night to remember in a show dubbed The MaWhoo Experience at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

Known for collaborations with Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, MaWhoo— who got wide recognition after releasing her debut single ‘Umshado’ featuring Heavy K—had the audience singing along when she served some of her favourite tunes including ‘Uzizwa Kanjan’, ‘Ngiyathanda’ and ‘Umona’.
MaWhoo was the centre of attraction, forcing the people to shoot her every move with their phones.
Backed by her DJ, the artist from the Rainbow Nation was flexible on the night as she allowed patrons to choose songs.
Performing in Malawi after her exploits in Botswana and Mozambique, she made sure she left no stone unturned as she sang, danced and even posed for selfies, creating a close connection with patrons.

She, as headliner, delivered, sharing the stage with acts such as rapper Tay Grin, better known as Nyau King.
As Tourism Ambassador, the artist presented the country’s rich culture when he blended her performance with Gule Wamkulu, a traditional dance of the Chewa people.
Some of the songs that he served included ‘Chipapapa’, ‘Tola’ and ‘Lubwa’.
Impakt Events lead coordinator Yamikani Chinguwo hailed people for showing up for the concert, which he said was a fundraiser for the annual Sand Music Festival.
The festival has not been held for two years now.
“The concert achieved its goal as a fundraiser for next year’s Sand Music Festival, whose dates will be announced soon,” Chinguwo said.
He also said that all artists, including MaWhoo, were exceptional.
Other artists who performed at the concert were Joe Ikon, Eli Njuchi, Onesimus, Temwah and Zeze Kingston.
