A crew from Meta and Tik Tok is in the country ahead of a meeting scheduled for Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe Thursday.
Macra Director General Mayamiko Nkoloma broke the news on his Facebook page Tuesday.
The meeting follows Macra’s engagements with content creators, who are seeking solutions as regards monetisation.
Macra Head of International Relations and Corporate Communication Limbani Nsapato also confirmed that Meta and Tik Tok teams were in the country.
“We had an overwhelming registration of over 1,900 [creators]. We have since communicated to the shortlisted invitees,” Nsapato said Tuesday.

Mikozi’s Bright Chiligo, better known as Ekcess, said they expected that, at the end of the meeting, they would clearly understand the issue of monetisation.
“We are looking forward to clearly understanding why we are not yet monetised and the solution to this problem. All this should lead to our main goal and that is monetisation,” Chiligo said.
He further said they wanted to see art and creativity paying online platforms and generating forex for the country.
“We are grateful for the efforts Macra has made in keeping their promise of pushing for monetisation after the meetings,” Chiligo said.

He said Meta reported paying over $2 billion to creators globally in 2023 through its combined monetisation programmes.
“In previous years, we placed blame on low quality content but now we have improved a lot, in terms of production,” Chiligo said.
Veteran producer Tapps Bandawe, who has also been in the forefront—speaking about monetisation—said he was looking forward to a fruitful meeting.
“To me, this is the beginning of a good and exciting path. We just have to keep engaging and not stop after the meeting,” Bandawe, who runs with Gold Mountain Music— which partnered Universal Music Group—said.
