Mitundu Baptist have become the third side to earn promotion to the TNM Super League, having finished third in the NBS Bank National Division League.
Mitundu thrashed Jenda United 6-0 on Sunday to seal third slot in the second-tier league, joining champions Red Lions and second-placed Baka City on their way up.
Following the win, Mitundu have 38 points from 21 matches and, even if they lose their last fixture, they cannot be overtaken by fourth-placed Fomo, who have 33 points from the same number of matches.
The team’s coach Audrow Makonyola, speaking after the win, said he was excited to have helped Mitundu to move to the top flight league.
“I am delighted that my players accomplished our mission. Our goal was to get promoted to the Super League and we have done that,” he said.

Makonyola said he was qualified and exposed enough to steer the club’s campaign in the top flight league.
“I know what it takes to compete in the Super League. I also helped Eagle Beaks to get promoted to the Super League,” he said.
Mitundu are on the verge of producing the competition’s top goal scorer as Rashid Ntondera took his tally for the season to 24 goals, having scored five against Jenda.
Ntondera said his desire was to play in the main flight league.
