“Taekwondo demonstrated what they do and, in a process, they have generated interest among the masses. They did well blending sports and culture. This is the way to go because they go together,” Yola said.
In his remarks, founder of Lions of Kaning’ina Taekwondo Club, Hassan Wasili said the day which was inaugurated in 2016, promotes self-defense and discipline among athletes.
“We are showcasing our talent and at the same time preserving nature. Most people do not know martial arts and we are doing this as an awareness to coax parents to send their kids to join the sport. We are also focusing on the nature because martial arts needs a conducive environment for the athletes to perform better,” Wasili said.
The day was celebrated under a theme ‘nature is wealth’ with over 90 athletes from different clubs taking part.
