Super League of Malawi (Sulom) acting President Gilbert Mittawa believes tomorrow’s fundraising dinner and dance will help the body attract more partners.
Sulom will hold the fundraiser at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe, where Mighty Mukuru Wanderers President Thomson Mpinganjira will be the guest of honour.
Mittawa said the dinner is a great opportunity for the league and its teams to open up to the wider public and the corporate world.
“Often times, people are not so sure about where and how they can partner Sulom. The dinner therefore opens up that space,” he said.
However, Mittawa said they are aware that coaxing stakeholders is a long-term project, hence organising the dinner and dance.

“We are not looking for immediate gains or sponsorship. Companies should feel free to make pledges and arrange partnership agreements which can be fulfilled later in the season or beyond the 2024 season,” he said.
Mittawa reiterated that money realised from the event will go towards Sulom’s operations and supporting teams ahead of the commencement of the 2024 season.
“The main objective is to raise funds and create awareness. The dinner will also offer clubs, league administrators and the corporate world an opportunity to engage and interact as we are about to commence the league.
“It is a catalyst to the efforts of reviving, reforming and rebranding the league. Therefore, we are urging everyone to come and dine, dance and celebrate with us,” Mittawa said.

Football analyst Frank Chakanga backed Sulom’s initiative.
“If well utilised, such gatherings can help build connections for the development of the game across the country. We need more of such interactions,” Chakanga said.
