The Parliamentary Cluster Committee on Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources and Climate Change has recommended sweeping changes to Malawi’s mining regulations, calling for higher fees and fines and requiring foreign investors to pay in United States dollars.
The cluster says the reforms could increase government revenue, boost foreign exchange reserves and ensure fair treatment for local miners.
