By Deogratias Mmana:
The National Planning Commission (NPC) has signed agreements with Save the Children and Farm Radio Trust for the two organisations to popularise Malawi (MW) 2063, the country’s long-term development plan.
The signing ceremony took place in Lilongwe on Friday.
Save the Children Country Director Ashebir Debebe said, through the memorandum of understanding, the organisation is enforcing its commitment to join forces with the NPC to tackle issues affecting children and their families.
“In this regard, we commit to work with the commission to ensure that we align our development and humanitarian work with Malawi 2063 and we will seek guidance whenever the need arises. Malawi 2063 is popularised among our children through child-friendly and sensitive language,” Debebe said.

He added that the agreement signifies a new chapter to ensure that Save the Children is held accountable to its mission and mandate, especially as to how it aligns to the national vision.
NPC Director General Thomas Munthali said the agreement with Save the Children will support the implementation of MIP-1 and the realisation of the aspirations of the MW2063 through advocacy for change.
“The agreement will ensure that more Malawian children are part of the implementation process of Malawi 2063,” Munthali said.
Farm Radio Trust Chief Executive Officer George Vilili said the partnership is expected to enhance access to information on MW2063 to stakeholders.
