Legendary musician Soldier Lucius Banda did not perform at Jamaican musician Everton Blender’s concert at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre last Saturday due to contractual matters.
Some people who patronised the concert said yesterday the situation turned chaotic after organisers of the show, led by Ras Ray Harawa, communicated to the audience that Lucius would not be available.
“The situation was not that good as people felt Lucius Banda would be present,” a fan, who did not want to be named, said.
Ras Ray Harawa admitted that there was a problem following Lucius’ no show but said the other artists including Blender performed.

“I would say the show went on as arranged except the no-show for Soldier. A few people were disappointed but it was not chaotic as some people are putting it. People were angry yes, but we managed to calm them down,” he said.

Harawa said despite Lucius’ absence, Blender and other artists including Tuff Lions Band from Lilongwe put up “perfect” performances.
Blender performed at the show, having also starred in Lilongwe last month, during the Reggae Jam Festival, where he shared the stage with fellow Jamaican Luciano.
Lucius, who performed in Kenya, recently said he failed to show up because of contractual matters and that there was no proper communication on the concert.
“I always show up for shows but, for this one, it is to do with contractual matters. It is unfortunate but there was no choice,” he said.

Other artists who performed at the concert included Nepman.
In a statement, Mibawa management indicated that it only provided a venue for the concert.
