The National Planning Commission (NPC) has said the setting up of one stop border posts would help Malawi achieve its aspiration, inclusive wealth creation, as stipulated in the Malawi 2063—the country’s long-term development plan.
NPC Director General Thomas Munthali said such posts facilitate quick trade, thereby helping the country realise more forex.
He said this on Tuesday when NPC and other government officials toured the Dedza One Stop Border Post.
“The border posts can help to facilitate trade. That means operators will be transacting more business within a short time and rake in more forex. That is what we need if we are going to create wealth as a nation,” he said.
The tour was part of a high-level monitoring exercise of some flagship projects as outlined in the Malawi 2063 first 10-year implementation plan.

Malawi Revenue Authority Dedza One Stop Border Post Station Manager Lucy Chikhawo said the revenue collection body has recorded tremendous improvement in operations and services.
“If we are to compare with the old facility, we can say we are now working under a conducive environment and facilitate our services faster than we used before,” Chikhawo said.
Construction works of Dedza One Border Post were completed in July 2022.
