By Peter Fote & Mabvuto Kambuwe:
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football Club (FC) Head Coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan has resigned with immediate effect, Times Sport has learned.
The development comes at a time the team has suffered two consecutive losses in the TNM Super League.
It first suffered its first loss in the league after going down 2-0 to league leaders Silver Strikers FC at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe last week.
On Saturday this week, the Lali Lubani side suffered another 2-0 hammering at the hands of Mzuzu City Hammers FC at Mzuzu Stadium.
The Burundian tactician has only been in charge of the team for eight matches, guiding the team to fifth place with 12 points, 10 behind Silver, on the log table.
He joined the side on February 14 this year.
The former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC tactician, who has coached in Malawi, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa and in his native Burundi, has addressed his resignation letter to the team’s president Thomson Mpinganjira.
“If the table doesn’t serve you anymore, what do you do?” the letter reads.
Meanwhile, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi has expressed ignorance on the coach’s resignation.
“My office has not received any communication on the matter. This [speculation that he has resigned] is what the social media is saying. If the coach has, indeed, left his job, we expect him to follow the right channel and if it is, indeed, true, then the available technical staff members will take up his role, with Meck Mwase, his deputy, taking over in the meantime,” Ndovi said.
At the same stage last year, Wanderers had 17 points after registering five victories, two draws and one loss.
Before the start of the season, Wanderers boosted their squad with striker Clement Nyondo, defender Timothy Silwimba and midfielder Blessings Singini.
Wanderers have also signed Cameroonian striker Sama Tanjong but they are still waiting for his clearance.
Meanwhile, sports analyst Kim Kamau has said while the blame is on the technical panel, some players do not deserve to play for the club.
“There are several problems at Wanderers. They need to solve the problems; otherwise, prospects are not good for Wanderers,” he said.
The Lali Lubani Road outfit finished empty-handed last season, a development that led to the resignation of Mark Harrison.
Wanderers last won the TNM Super League title in 2017, when they were under the tutelage of veteran mentor Yasin Osman, who is now the technical director.
