The 2023 Pemphero Mphande Short Story Writing competition grand finale will be held next month.
Mphande said Tuesday that they were targeting the second week of February for prize presentation.
“We will announce the date for the event probably Wednesday or Friday,” he said.
In August last year, Kings Foundation Schools pumped K12 million in the competition.
The competition, which is in its third year, has this time around lured participants from secondary schools, colleges and universities in separate competitions.

Mphande said recently that the sponsorship would enable more students to partake in the competition.
He indicated last year that for secondary schools, the top winners will be given a scholarship to study at some schools; that is, a boy at Kings Foundation-Ntcheu campus and a girl at Rose Hiwa campus, with those on second and third position receiving K300,000 and K100,000, respectively.
For tertiary education institution students, the winner will walk away with K400,000 whereas those second and third position will receive K300,000 and K100,000, respectively.
The main competition will see the winner walking away with K1 million, with those on second and third position receiving K300,000 and K200,000, respectively.
