Puma Energy Limited has called for investment in the aviation sector to boost the country’s economy.
Managing Director for Puma Energy Limited Sipho Uaeca said this during the country’s first air show and career fair in aviation held in Lilongwe on Saturday.
“Malawi is landlocked which means that aviation sector plays a crucial role in the growth of the economy. If you grow infrastructure in aviation sector, it will have great impact on tourism and the economy,” Uaeca said.
Puma has been the country’s supplier of jet fuel and sponsored the aviation career show.

Malawian Airlines first officer Winnie Msachi said the first aviation career show was successful as it gave a number of learners and other Malawians an opportunity to understand aviation.
Msachi said the aviation sector has a lot of opportunities that include pilots, cabin crew, air traffic control, engineers and charter companies among others.
Phantom Aviation Director Lusekero Mwenefumbo said they organised the show because they noted a knowledge gap on aviation matters.
“We all have the duty to outsource the service of the country instead of just complaining. Equipping young learners with right information will prepare them to provide solutions to some challenges in future,” Mwenefumbo said.
