The 2024 Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League is scheduled to throw off on May 18.
Blantyre and Districts Netball Committee General Secretary Annie Hanjahanja said the date has been set after discussions with sponsor Rainbow Paints Limited.
“It is now time for our teams to finalise their preparations for the 2024 season. We believe players have had adequate rest after concluding the season in December last year.
“Teams have now started registering with us at K60,000 each and their players at K2,000 each. This process will run up to May 31,” Hanjahanja said.
Meanwhile, Machinjiri Sisters and Gerald Tasaudala Sisters have been dismissed from the league on performance-related grounds.

“It is time they went back to basics and found their feet. They need to start from scratch. We will now consider other teams to fill their slots. We started with evaluating their performance before arriving at this decision,” Hanjahanja said.
Kukoma Diamonds retained the championship after beating First Choice Tigresses 33-27 at Blantyre Youth Centre on December 16 last year.
For emerging champions, Diamonds received K2 million while Tigresses pocketed K1 million, with third-placed Imosys carting home K600,000.
The sponsorship package for the 2023 season was K12 million.

Diamonds Coach Noel Mussa said defending the championship is their vital mission.
“We have regrouped in readiness for the season. We know that it will be tough because every team will come hard on us,” Mussa said.
