South African veteran gospel musician Rebecca Malope, widely known as ‘The Queen of Gospel’, will perform at the Blessings Gospel concert alongside Uganda’s Colifixe on September 2 2023 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Impakt Events Artist Liason Wendy Harawa said Monday that all was set for Blessings Gospel concert and that they were happy to be bringing Malope and Colifixe.
Malope, whose music career spans more than three decades and has sold at least 10 million albums worldwide, will be performing in the country not for the first time.
Last time the gospel songstress was in the country was at Blantyre Arts Festival at Blantyre Cultural Centre in 2015, when she was among the international headliners.
“I have grown up listening to her music and she has been my greatest inspiration. We are excited to have her at Blessings Gospel concert,” Wendy said of the concert organised by Jacobs Events.
“Apart from Rebecca Malope, we have Colifixe, who I collaborated with in the track ‘Obikyusiza’,” she added.
Wendy said they have settled everything for the two acts, who are expected to share the stage with her and other local acts such as Kondwani Chirwa and Great Angels Choir.
“If we are able to get the forex in time then we will be able to have an artist from Nigeria but, in the meantime, we are going ahead with Malope and Colifixe,” she said.
Wendy said Blessings Gospel concert has been organised to give people praise and worship time.
“Through this platform, we want souls to be blessed. This gathering is to activate all our blessings,” she said.
Last year, Wendy brought into the country American gospel artist Travis Greene, who spiced up the launch of her album Wandiyitana.
