Tributes continue to pour in following the death of Silver Strikers former midfielder Davie Moya, who passed on in the early hours of Thursday.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) led the football fraternity in mourning Moya who was, until his death, part of Silver’s reserve team technical panel.

In a statement posted on Fam website, the association’s general secretary Alfred Gunda described the death as sad for Malawi football.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the Moya family, friends, Silver and all those he worked with. This is a sad day for Malawi football and we hope the Almighty will give the grieving family strength and hope in this time of mourning,” Gunda said.
Silver also released a statement, saying Moya would be greatly missed.

“He will forever be remembered as one of the club’s legends and his presence will be dearly missed,” the statement reads.
Moya joined Silver in 2006 and won four TNM Super League titles with the Central Bankers in 2008, 2010, 2011-2012 and 2012-13.
He then went on to win the FMB Under-20 League championship with Silver Youth as coach in 2016.
One of the stars who played with Moya at Silver, Bothwell Saka, said he was heartbroken.

“Davie was more than just a friend. He was a brother to most of us. The nation has lost a dedicated and hardworking person,” Saka said.
Chitipa United coach Elvis Kafoteka, who played with Moya at Blue Eagles, mourned the departed star through a post on his Facebook page.
“We joined Blue Eagles as wingers and Davie was operating from position seven. My preferred position was number 11. I managed to score many goals for Eagles because I could read his movements. I would know exactly where he would place the ball and I would just make sure I was there on time to meet the ball. He was one player blessed with pin-point crosses. I will miss him so much,” Kafoteka’s post reads.
Moya’s body will be laid to rest today in Lilongwe.
