Sunbird Hotels and Resorts has provided K52 million towards the hosting of the 2025 Africa Netball Cup slated for Lilongwe next month.
The company unveiled the sponsorship package at Sunbird Capital in Lilongwe Wednesday.
Sunbird Head of Sales, Marketing and Distribution Temwa Kanjadza said the sponsorship underscores the company’s commitment to promoting community development and women empowerment.
“We, as a proudly Malawian brand, are passionate about initiatives that elevate brand Malawi. We are honoured to be part of this remarkable event, which will showcase the best of African netball talent on Malawian soil,” she said.
Kanjadza said empowering women through sports contributed significantly to social and economic development.

Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) Treasurer Anastasia Kaphale said the sponsorship would help in hosting a successful tournament.
“We are ready to host the biggest netball tournament on home soil. We thank Sunbird for their timely support,” Kaphale said.
So far, 11 countries— including South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, eSwatini, Lesotho, Kenya, Tanzania and Tanzania—are expected to take part in the event, which is scheduled for December 8 to 14 in Lilongwe.
The games will be played at Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe.
The tournament will not only determine the continental champions but will also serve as ranking games.
