“There is need to sustain the family as we wait the repatriation of Hope’s remains and also the cost of doing that,” he said.
The veteran filmmaker said there are several activities they intend to organize including film screenings which they are starting.
“He was arguably the greatest actor I have ever worked with. He was versatile, talented and a pleasure to work with on set. He had an amazing understanding of character and knew how best to play his role with little direction,” Joyah said.
Mwakisulu said during the screenings, people will share their stories and memories.
“People will be urged to make donations as well although they will also pay on entry. We have talked to Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre and Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe and they have given us free space to hold these functions,” he said.
The Nation indicated recently that the family is appealing for funding to repatriate the remains of Chisanu and that it was looking for K42 million.
Apart from working with Joyah, Chisanu also starred in other films including Chawezi Chaz Munthali’s Misnomer.
