By Praise Majawa:
One of the country’s netball powerhouses, Tigresses, is at risk of disbanding as financial challenges continue to affect the club.
Head coach Peace Chawinga Kaluwa said the team was struggling to meet transport and other logistical costs, making it difficult for players to attend training and matches.
Chawinga Kaluwa warned that the club could cease to exist if it did not receive urgent financial support in the coming weeks.
“If we are to continue struggling financially in the next three weeks, I do not believe the team will still exist,” Chawinga Kaluwa said.

The financial challenges have also affected the team’s preparations, with the coach saying Tigresses cannot conduct regular training because they struggle to provide transport to players.
“There are no proper arrangements for training because we need to provide transport for the girls to be available, and this is now a challenge for our team,” she said.
Tigresses have endured a difficult start to the FDH Premier Netball League, sitting seventh with two points from four matches after recording one win and three defeats.
The team suffered a 55- 51 defeat to Lilongwe-based Vanessa Sisters on Sunday, a day after losing 45-43 to Blue Eagles Sisters.

Tigresses are scheduled to travel to Lilongwe this weekend, when they will face Lioness on Saturday before taking on another opponent on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Area 30-based police side Blue Eagles Sisters has made a strong start to the campaign, collecting six points from their three matches in Blantyre last weekend.
The team defeated Pacers 59- 30 and Giants NC 62-29 over the weekend to move into second place with nine points from five matches.
Eagles Sisters Head Coach Madano Tepetheya, however, said his side must improve its scoring despite their strong start.
“As the league stands, we need to be scoring more goals.
“[That said], I am happy with the team’s performance [and] for collecting the six points,” Tepetheya said.
