Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) and sponsors Nico Holdings have set the tone for the launch of the country’s first ever One Nico Top 12 Netball Cup at Blantyre Sports Arena (BSA) Saturday.
The two have lined up a number of activities, including a parade from Chibisa House in Blantyre to BSA, where there will be performances by various artists.
Urban musician Piksy is also expected to perform the cup’s theme song before dominant Blue Eagles face resilient Kukoma Diamonds in an exhibition match to give fans a glimpse of what the competition will be like.
Nam General Secretary Yamikani Khungwa-Kauma said the stage is set for a great netball feast.
“We will start the day with a parade from Chibisa House to BSA. The Malawi Police Brass Band is also expected to be part of this event, while Piksy will perform the theme song and teach netball fans how to follow and dance to it. So, it will be a day full of fun and excitement,” Khungwa- Kauma said.

Registration for Southern Region teams closes today, whereas the other regions will continue until Monday.
Nico Holdings Corporate Affairs Manager Mbumba Mlia- Ndasauka said the firm wishes the teams all the best as they turn match events into real-life situations.
“They should enjoy the games. At Nico, it is not just about emerging as the ultimate winner but about the lessons gained at every stage.

“There are life lessons in every game; planning, focus and determination. These are also key lessons in financial services and that is what we promote. We will support our ladies all the way,” Mlia- Ndasauka said.
She added that they are excited to launch the cup after extensive planning.
“We want our netballers to feel valued and supported by the community. We also want the fans to enjoy this event. Let us rebuild the game of netball together. We continue to push this plan to build netball #TiliNdiPulani,” Mlia- Ndasauka said.
