Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have threatened to secure an injunction relief or an injunction order to stop the 2023 Airtel Top 8 from being played until their appeal has been heard and determined by the Appeals Committee.
In a letter which Times Sport has seen, Wanderers, through Makiyi, Kanyenda and Associates, asks Football Association of Malawi (Fam) to halt any Airtel Top 8 fixture pending the determination of the Appeals Committee.
In addition, Wanderers have asked the association to cease and desist from making misleading statements or media releases to the general public and sponsors about the true status of the 2023 Airtel Top 8.
Wanderers have given the association 24 hours’ ultimatum to furnish them with a motivated decision or reasonable determination consistent with article 116 of the Fam Disciplinary Code.
“We have also been informed that you have issued a Media Release suggesting that our client lost the 2nd leg fixture and further indicating that the dates of the purported semi-finals between Silver Strikers and Mafco. These are merely exercises in futility,” the letter reads.

According to the letter, Wanderers have the right to appeal to the Appeals Committee the decision of the Disciplinary Committee in line with Article 14 of the Airtel Top 8.
This comes a day after Wanderers did not honour the second leg fixture in protest of the Disciplinary Committee which upheld in entirety the Competitions Committee’s determination.
However, Fam Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka, earlier in the day, said Wanderers only made an intent to appeal.
The committee, in a statement, confirmed that by failing to turn up for the match, Wanderers lost by 2-0 and exited the competition on 4-0 aggregate after they were also declared 2-0 losers in the first leg.

For failing to honour the fixture, Wanderers risk a ban from all competitions organised by the association as well as a K2 million fine in line with Article 4.5 of the competition’s rules and regulations.
According to Fam, Silver will play Mafco in the semi-final of the competition at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday.
The winner will face FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who are already in the final after beating Blue Eagles 3-2 two weeks ago.
