As Parliament prepares to reconvene following the September 16, 2025 General Elections, the race for the Speaker of Parliament has, again, laid bare a familiar gender gap in Malawi’s political landscape.
Despite making modest gains in women’s political representation, no woman has emerged among the contenders for the top parliamentary seat, a development that has sparked concern among gender equality advocates.
