Some of the cases involved Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice-president for the Eastern Region Bright Msaka and McDonald Makanjira, who were challenging the victory of United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Tulinje Muluzi in Machinga Likwenu Constituency.
The court ruled in favour of Muluzi.
DPP vice-president for the Central Region Alfred Gangata also dragged Mec to court and won when he challenged MCP candidate George Zulu and the electoral body over the nullification of results in Lilongwe City Mtandire- Mtsiriza Constituency.
In Chikwawa, former Chikwawa Nkombezi legislator Abida Mia contested alleged irregularities in elections that saw Lloyd Malola of DPP being declared winner.
The court dismissed Mia’s application.
Mec is yet to hold elections in four constituencies, namely Lilongwe City Bwaila, Dedza Mtakataka, Nkhotakota Liwaladzi and Blantyre West.

a need for collaboration
Centre for Multiparty Democracy Executive Director Boniface Chibwana hailed the Judiciary for “swiftly” dealing with the cases.
“Failure to act on such cases leaves people with a lot of questions and, moving forward, I think there is a need for collaboration among all electoral stakeholders so that such cases can be dealt with within a specified period,” Chibwana said.
