Times Television, a subsidiary of The Times Group, celebrated its 12th anniversary on Thursday with a promise to come up with more innovative programmes.
The celebration—held at Times Entertainment Studios at its headquarters along Scott Road, Ginnery Corner, in Blantyre City— was marked by activities that included champagne popping and cake cutting.
It was all fun when host of the event, Times Television presenter Yankho Seunda, invited staff members to go on a countdown before the champagne was popped.
Times Television presenter Fatsani Kalonda led others in the champaign-popping exercise.
Then came a special moment of cake cutting by The Times Group top gurus, led by Chief Commercial Manager Ralph Chirwa.

Chirwa said they were excited that Times Television had clocked 12 years, during which it had entertained, educated and informed targeted audiences. “We are thankful to all stakeholders who have supported us all these years and continue to do so. We will continue to give them the best, with more pioneering programmes in health, agriculture, business, entertainment and other areas [in the offing],” he said.
Chirwa also opened up to stakeholders for ideas that could be pitched to enrich the lived experiences of those who watch the television.
The award-winning television station has claimed the number one position for eight consecutive years in the annual Media Institute of Southern Africa-Malawi Awards.
Apart from offering news and current affairs, Times Television airs programmes such as ‘Hot Current’, ‘Health Living’, ‘Infotainment’, ‘Business Time’, ‘The Cauldron’ and ‘Kwagwanji’.
