Malawi National Football Team defender Charles Petrol’s FC Botosani is in the relegation zone of Romania’s top league after amassing just six points from 13 matches.
The league in the European country is halfway through and Botosani have an uphill task to survive relegation in the 16-team league after conceding 26 goals against 13.
Petro featured in the team’s 5-2 defeat to FC Sepsi SF Gheorghe which saw it accumulating four consecutive losses in five games between September and October.
Botosani lost 0-1 to FCSB on September 7 before suffering a 3-1 defeat to Craiova on September 1.
The team went on to lose by the same margin to Rapid Bucurest to remain bottom of the table.

Newly appointed Malawi National Football Team Coach Patrick Mabedi has described Petro’s team’s situation in Romania as unfortunate.
“This is very sad for Petro. I expect all our players outside the country to be doing well if we are to get results in international competitions. Petro is one of our dependable players and needs to continue playing in that country’s top league,” Mabedi said.
However, one of Malawi’s football analysts Roy Mdechi said Botosani can redeem themselves and survive relegation.
“It is only 13 games played this far and anything can happen. There are many more games to be played and I believe that if Botosani can fix their problems now, they can avoid relegation by the end of the season,” Mdechi said.
