The Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has said 16 elite clubs shared a total of K217 million in television revenue in the 2025 football season.
The association released the figure yesterday. At the same stage in 2024, the 16 clubs shared K112 million.
This follows Mpira Television generating K525.7 million in 2025, up from K307.07 million in 2024, representing a 71 percent increase.
Net revenue also nearly doubled, rising to K271 million in 2025 from K140 million, a 93 percent increase.
Fam Marketing and Communications Manager Mayamiko Kafwamba expressed satisfaction with the figures.

“Gross revenue rose from K307,079,286 in 2024 to K525,719,251 in 2025, a 71 percent increase, while net revenue nearly doubled from K140 million to K271 million, outpacing the 52 percent increase in total expenses to K254 million. This shows improved cost management and stronger margins,” Kafwamba said on the Fam website.
Karonga United General Secretary Ramsey Simwaka said he was not satisfied.
“We got peanuts last season. TV rights are big business in other countries, so we need to improve,” he said.
Blue Eagles Chief Administration Officer Mohammad Ali said there was room for improvement. “We received a good amount but expected more,” he added.
