Muslim Association of Malawi (Mam) has called on Muslims in the country to continue doing good things.
The sentiments have been made when Muslims are celebrating the occasion of Eid al Fitr Thursday.
Eid al Fitr, which is punctuated by prayers, marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
This follows the announcement of the sighting of the new moon of Shawwaal by the National MoonSighting Committee Wednesday.

Mam spokesperson Sheikh Dinala Chabulika said as Muslims are celebrating Eid, they should remember to protect their imaan (faith), just like they did when they were fasting, and share things with those that have little or nothing so that they, too, can celebrate the occasion.
“The reason for fasting in the holy month of Ramadan is not to punish ourselves but to bring us closer to Allah. It also teaches us good deeds.
“As we celebrate that we have completed 30 days of fasting, let’s not forget what we learnt. We have learned a lot of things and we should not stop doing good things simply because the month is gone,” he said.
Chabulika also urged Muslims to demonstrate good manners and celebrate according to the teachings of Islam.

Eid al-Fitr, which was celebrated on the first day of the 10th month of the Islamic calendar, is the festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
On the day, the faithful pray, reunite with family and friends and reach out to the less privileged.
It is recommended that Eid prayers be conducted at an open ground, as opposed to the mosque, to allow everyone to participate.
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims observe a strict fast from dawn to sunset, such that they are not allowed to eat or drink water.
