The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) Board on Saturday held a consultative meeting with several sports associations at the Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe.
The engagement was premised on council officials gaining deeper insights into operations, governance structures, opportunities and challenges that are facing national sports associations under the council.
The meeting came against the backdrop of concerns that some associations are not fully adhering to national sports guidelines which MNCS put in place in 2022.
Speaking during the meeting, MNCS acting Chief Executive Officer Ivy Chinangwa said the initiative was designed to strengthen the working relationship between the board and affiliated associations.
“This meeting has provided a platform for constructive dialogue and the exchange of ideas between the board and sports association leadership with the aim of fostering a more coordinated and effective sports development framework in Malawi,” Chinangwa said.
