The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has released K500 million to Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) for its planned activities.
The money is part of the K1 billion allocation to Nam for the current financial year.
This comes just days after MNCS also released K1 billion to the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) for its activities.

MNCS Chief Executive Officer Henry Kamata confirmed the development.
“We have given Nam K500 million out of the government allocation of K1 billion for the 2025-26 financial year,” Kamata said.

On her part, Nam General Secretary Yamikani Khungwa- Kauma also confirmed receipt of the funds from the council.
“We are very excited that council has given us the resources we requested,” she said.
Kauma said the association asked for funds for Malawi Under-21 Netball Team’s preparation for the World Cup finals scheduled for Gibraltar in September this year.
The team went into camp in Lilongwe last week.

It has been camping at Bhubhesi Pride Complex in preparation for the tournament.
Apart from U-21 team’s activities, Kauma said the funds were meant for the Nam annual general meeting, which is scheduled for August at a venue to be announced.
Kauma said the remaining allocation for the current financial year would be used for preparations for hosting the Africa Netball Cup competition later this year.
“We have a lot of activities this year as we are hosting a big tournament. As such, we need a lot of resources. We do not want to exhaust all the resources,” Kauma said.
Nam and Fam usually get a huge chunk of allocation from the government for their respective activities.
Last week, MNCS released K1 billion to Fam for national team activities including for the Flames and the Scorchers.
The government has allocated K1.5 billion to Fam for national teams’ activities.
However, Fam’s budget is pegged at K11.6 billion this year.
