The High Court has granted judicial review to five generals of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) following their secondment from the force.
The generals—namely major generals Francis Kakhuta Banda, Swithun Mchungula, Chikunkha Soko, Saiford Kalisha and Brigadier General Harold Dzoole—filed an application seeking a stay of their secondment and permission to pursue judicial review.
In a ruling delivered Thursday, Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda said the decision by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Justin Saidi to second the five officers should be reviewed.
