FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have condemned violence that marred their TNM Super League match against Silver Strikers at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
Bullets, through a press statement issued Tuesday, pledged to cooperate with Super League of Malawi (Sulom) investigators.
The defending champions also promised to work with Silver’s management to assess and cover the costs of repairing their team bus.
“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is shocked and disappointed by the acts of violence at the Kamuzu Stadium on 2nd June 2024 during the TNM Super League match against Silver Strikers FC. The club welcomes the Super League of Malawi’s decision to investigate the incidents and punish the perpetrators of violence. We will fully support Sulom’s investigation into this incident in any way we can, as we are also on the ground to find the perpetrators of this violent act,” the statement reads.
The statement states that Bullets believe that football is a sport that brings entertainment to people from all walks of life.

“Like any other sport, football is patronised by people of different age groups, including children. As such, the safety of football stakeholders during football matches must never be compromised.
“We are deeply saddened by the damage caused to Silver Strikers FC’s team bus during the violence. The club would, therefore, like to extend a heartfelt apology to Silver Strikers FC following the incident. As a home team, we will work closely with Silver Strikers’ management to assess and cover the costs of repairing their team bus,” the statement reads.

Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba welcomed Bullets’ remorseful act.
“We commend the gesture that our counterparts Bullets have shown. They have shown a high level of maturity and we are closely working together on this [team bus repairs]. Football should be a unifying factor and Bullets management has shown that we are moving in the right direction, in terms of promoting sportsmanship,” Chimimba said.

Meanwhile, Sulom Vice General Secretary Donnex Chilonga has said the body’s legal department would issue charges after examining all match reports.
“All stakeholders, including the match commissioner and the police, submitted reports which our legal team is looking at. After that, we are going to place the charges,” Chilonga said.
Violence erupted at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre after substitute Chinsinsi Maonga scored a decisive goal in the 90th minute to condemn Bullets to their first defeat of the season.
