FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are through to the final of the FDH Bank Cup after an emphatic 5-1victory over Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar at Kamuzu Stadium Sunday.
Bullets have now booked a date with Salima-based soldiers Mafco FC in the final match of the K120 million tournament.
The People’s Team will be looking forward to becoming the first side to defend the cup, which they won last year after victory over Bullets Reserve.
Collins Okumu opened the scoring in the first half before Hassan Kajoke, McFarren Mgwira and Antony Mfune’s brace later in the second half sent Dedza out of the competition.
Gift Magola scored the visitors’ consolation goal in the 85th minute.
After eliminating Moyale in the quarterfinal of the prestigious competition, Dedza looked like a tough opposition that would stand in Bullets’ way but it was never to be as the visitors were not their usual self as they lacked coordination and composure.
Okumu’s goal barely two minutes into the match seemed to have destabilised the visitors as they were disjointed in all positions, with the defence almost non-existent.
Bullets could have finished the match in the first half but missed several chances, with Chinedu Okafor, who was handed a rare start after warming the bench for sometime, being the main villain.
No wonder, Okafor was replaced by Kajoke before the break.
Dedza seemed to have revived in the second half when they took the match to the home team.
However, the Central Region side failed to defend in numbers to tame Bullets’ speedy attackers as the People’s Team scored three goals in eight minutes to lead by 4-0 by 81 minutes.
Magola scored Dedza’s consolation goal in added minutes of the match before Mgwira nailed Bullets’ last goal, which came in time for Mzuzu-based referee Newton Nyirenda to blow the final whistle.
Champions will pocket K30 million.
