Football Association of Malawi (Fam) President Fleetwood Haiya has told administrators to put their differences behind and pull in the same direction for the good of the game.
Haiya made the remarks during the launch of the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa on Saturday.
He said some administrators are pulling in different directions deliberately with the motive to sabotage his administration.
“It is sad that some football administrators are still living in the past. Instead of moving forward and accepting the reality, they are busy spreading false stories.
“For instance, some people were alleging that there will be other cups like Castel and Fam Moto which is sad. This is just political gimmick and we will not be disturbed to develop football. Time is now for them to heal and focus on developing football,’’ Haiya said.

His comments come seven months after he rose to the position of Fam president after defeating Walter Nyamilandu.
Dowa District Football Committee General Secretary Joseph Kamanga hailed current Fam leadership.
“We have seen a lot of improvements since he took over power in December. He has good ideas to transform our football. We need to support him so that he delivers,” Kamanga said.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama said it was high time Haiya started cleaning up the house.

“If Fam president comes out in the open, then there is a lot that is boiling within the system. If it is the secretariat then, the president will find it tough going but if it is the board then he just has to start cleaning up the house,” Chinyama said.
Regional football associations are expected to go to polls early next year.
