With 10 days to go before the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) elective general assembly, the committee’s vice chairperson Goodall Chinjoka has collected four nominations, two ahead of the incumbent Austin Ajawa.
According to our findings, Chinjoka has collected nominations from Salima, Ntchisi, Dowa and Mchinji district football committees whereas Ajawa got his from Dedza and Nkhotakota committees.
Times Sport also understands that Lilongwe, Ntcheu and Kasungu football committees have already made their nominations but were yet to make their submissions.
“That is, indeed, true and we are only waiting for the other three districts to see who they will nominate but the status quo is that Chinjoka is leading as we speak,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Chinjoka has downplayed the lead, saying nominations are not votes.

He was quick to say he was encouraged to be in the lead at this stage.
“My intention, as I already stated last week, is clear and that is to oust Ajawa and transform CRFA by bringing in more sponsorships and improving infrastructure in the region. This is something the leadership has failed [to do] for many years,” Chingoka said.
However, Ajawa said he was not moved by the nominations.
“I have been around for some time and will win the elections. Having two nominations is a clear indication that I am in contention. I will shock them come February 8,” Ajawa said.
