The latest Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) of 2024 shows that between 15 and 19 percent of girls in Malawi have already given birth, representing 32 percent of the population.
According to the research, four percent of these girls contribute to the number of women giving birth in the country’s hospitals.
This, according to experts, is despite years of government interventions aimed at addressing the problem.
