Last week, a man came into our country to tell us of how lucky we are to have one of his friends – a pastor – as our president. This man, who we are told is the leader of the Assemblies of God, seems to be disturbed by our ungratefulness. Indeed, Malawians are people who have been blinded by their sins such that they cannot see how the good Lord has set them apart and given them one of his servants to lead them to Canaan. We must thank this man of god for reminding us about how blessed our country is.
It is absurd that most people in this country fail to see all the blessings that have been unleashed upon us since we made that genius choice of voting a pastor into power. Before this administration, this country was going through turbulent times and there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel.
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)-led administration was the devil wearing Prada. This is something that our pastor knew, and it is one of the things that motivated him to take up the undesirable task of leading us. In his speeches while in opposition, the President talked about how nepotism was the soul of the DPP. He castigated his predecessor for lacking leadership qualities. He saw the potential that was there, which the DPP failed to capitalise on. And we, as Malawians, had no better choice than to have this man as our leader.
As the man from Ghana reminded us, we made the right choice and we must be thankful. We must be happy that the devil was ousted and a man of god elevated. Forget that this country has made no progress in the last three years and rejoice. Celebrate the fact that you are being led by a Christian, notwithstanding that his administration is failing to create sustainable futures for your children and generations to come.
Why should Malawians complain that there is no forex in the country? It is your fate as Malawians to be punished by failed regimes that do not have any clue on how to lead a nation. Aren’t you used by now to being lied to for your votes?

Any Malawian who is complaining that the country has no fuel or maize in its reserves must be arrested. That Malawian is ungrateful, for they are failing to see all the goodness that comes with having somebody who prays in power.
Why should the country have petrol and diesel when 90 percent of its citizens cannot even afford to buy a car? Petrol and diesel, like some wise ruling-party parliamentarian once remarked about cooking oil, are headaches of the elite. Poor people, whom the President and his lieutenants serve, are not interested in these luxuries. So, shut up and be grateful for the gods have been good to you.
What poor people need is not electricity or petrol or forex. Malawians need food, clothes and shelter. Oh! Never mind that we don’t even have maize in the country and that Admarc was unceremoniously closed by this government. Do not think like unbelievers! If you read the holy scripts very well, you will agree that the children of Israel did not need food reserves or proper planning in order to eat on their way to Canaan.
The Lord provided manna to them, straight from the gates of heaven. In fact, it was not allowed to stock this food! Haven’t you read that the Lord provides to those he loves while they are asleep?

As the pastor who visited us last week rightly pointed out, Malawians must be grateful for having a pastor as their leader. He even mentioned that we must pray for our country, for that is the only way we can make it across this sea of troubles. Moses did not need a ship to cross the Red Sea. He simply needed a rod to strike the water apart.
According to the men of faith, this country does not need thinking and/or strategic leaders in order to get out of this mess. We need miracles. We must pray for the impossible. You, the unbelieving! Just be thankful you have a pastor as your President! All hail servant leadership!
