There was pomp and jubilation in the Rastafarian community Wednesday as they welcomed Jamaican reggae musician Luciano, popularly known as Jah Messenger, at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.
Luciano is set to perform at the 2023 Reggae Jam Music Festival to be held at Grand Business Park in Lilongwe on Saturday.
The artist, who last performed in the country in 2014, was also welcomed on arrival by fellow Jamaican Everton Blender, who arrived in the country on Saturday.
The Jamaican second-generation singer, real name Jepther McClymont OD, said he was excited to be back in Malawi, the Warm Heart of Africa.

“I am energised for the concert and Malawians should expect a great reggae event. I am here to preach love and unity,” the ‘No Night in Zion’, maker said.
The devout Rastafarian, whose lyrics promote consciousness, will share the stage with Blender as well as local acts such as Black Missionaries, Blasto, Don Tarz, Queen Fyah and Chizmo.
One of the members of Jah Kings Promotions, organisers of the event, Richard Chisala, said the arrival of Luciano and Blender shows their commitment to the festival.
