Police in Phalombe Wednesday charged well-known musician Joe Gwaladi with grievous harm for assaulting and injuring his wife.
The ‘Tumbocid’ star, who is widely known as Pulofesa, was arrested on Tuesday.
Phalombe Police Public Relations Officer Jimmy Kapanga said on October 22 2023, Gwaladi left home for a drinking spree within the area and that he did not return home.
Kapanga said the following morning, Gwaladi returned home where he asked his wife to accompany him to the bar to continue drinking and that they both returned home while drunk during the night.
“Upon arrival, the couple started quarrelling and later the suspect started hitting his wife with burnt bricks, reportedly injuring her on both arms, the forehead, with her left middle toe cut off,” Kapanga said.

As we went to press Wednesday, the musician was still in police custody.
Gwaladi, 35, comes from Namuthu Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Kaledzera in Phalombe.
