Malawian coach for South Africa’s DStv Premiership side Royal AM, John Maduka, believes his side still stands a good chance of finishing in the top eight despite missing out on a chance to move up the table following a 1-1 stalemate with Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday.
The result took Royal to 12th position on the table with 29 points from 23 matches.
Maduka said his team needs to demonstrate that it wants to win matches.
“If you see the way the log is, it is possible. It is all up to us. We need to be persistent, take one game at a time, showing that we want to win games.
“And if we do so, I think we’ll give ourselves a chance because if you look at the table there is only a few points difference between the side in fifth place and where we are. So it still gives us a chance,” Maduka told supersport.com.

Royal have seven games remaining to fulfill their top eight ambitions with a home match against Orlando Pirates on Sunday.
The former Malawi National Football Team captain said while all the remaining matches are difficult, the Pirates encounter will be particularly tough because the Buccaneers are eyeing a second place finish.
“But it is also one of those games where your players are already motivated. It’s like that when you play one of the best but when you play with the ones that are, like, more of your size, you become a little bit more complacent.
“So I hope that the next game will be a different sort of game. You know, for you to be the best, you must compete with the best,” he said.
