Lilongwe-based Christian rapper David Kalilani is set to fly the country’s flag at the Kenya Holy Hip Hop Festival later this year.
Kenya Holy Hip Hop Festival is a continental gathering of artists and believers running under the theme ‘Philosophy of Ministry’.

“This is huge, being part of such a community and being recognised across borders means more for me and Malawi,” he said.
Kalilani revealed that he connected with Kenya’s Christian Hip Hop leader last year upon his visit where he shared on how his music had impacted many people in Kenya.
The artist added that the festival will help artists build a framework for ministry rooted in biblical principles.
“A lot of people in the arts, especially Christians, do not have a framework that helps them understand who they are, their calling, and what principles from the Bible they can use as they do ministry,” he said.

Kalilani also said that the festival will strengthen ties between Malawi and Kenya as well as other countries.
“As we interact with other communities, we will be able to create new relationships, new music, new events and fresh impact on a global scale,” he said.
The artist said the country’s Christian and Urban movement carries a flaming torch for revival that can spark momentum in other countries and foster unity across Africa’s arts and faith community.
Kalilani who was nominated in the Africa Gospel Music Awards in 2013 for his album Exodus: The Preview admitted that he has not been active lately in terms of releasing albums but was quick to say that new work would come out soon.
