Malawi National Football Team stars Lanjesi Nkhoma and Patrick Mwaungulu were on target when their Democratic Republic of Congo side TP Mazembe beat Sanga Balende 3-0 at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Wednesday.
The result saw Mazembe going third in the Linafoot play-offs, up from sixth before the match, with 19 points.
The team has played 10 matches.
Mazembe took the lead in the 13th minute through Nkhoma’s header, and in the 43rd minute, the Malawian narrowly missed the frame from a deep pass.
Mwaungulu and Nkhoma also played a part in Mazembe’s third goal when the former sent a back pass to the latter, who wired a through ball to striker Dieubeni Ndongala.

As he advanced on goal, Ndongala was fouled in the penalty area and the referee awarded them a penalty in the 48th minute which the striker converted.
Mwaungulu hammered the last nail on the coffin with a beautiful goal after receiving an inviting pass from his compatriot.
Nkhoma said scoring goals was exciting.
“It is about helping the team to win matches. So my brother Patrick and I are very excited. We are enjoying our game here and things are getting on well. But it was not an easy game as our opponents were also fighting for their lives. Going forward, we want to do more for the club,” he said.
