Organisers of Maso Awards have announced that they will hold the fifth edition in Lilongwe on November 25 2023 at Bingu International Convention Centre.
Maso Awards Executive Director Augustine Mukisi said Tuesday that they will be rotating the red carpet event, hence taking it to the capital city from Blantyre this time.
“This year we have 32 categories, the new ones being Best Hip Hop Act, Best Dancehall Act, Best Afro Soul/ Jazz Act, Best R & B/Pop Act and Best Social Media Content Creator,” Mukisi said.
Nominations for the 2023 edition will open on September 18 2023 and close on October 7 2023 whereas voting will start on October 17 2023 and close on November 17 2023.
Last year’s event saw several artists being recognised in different categories, with musicians Driemo and Suffix as the big winners.

Driemo, who recently launched his debut album titled Mzaliwa, collected the Male Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year awards for the track ‘Mojo’ whereas his manager Van Ngongo bagged Manager of the Year award.
Ahead of the Maso Awards, organisers will warm up with a new creation they have introduced known as Mac Gala to be held on Saturday at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre.
Mukisi boosted that the Mac Gala is the first of its kind put together by Maso Awards, whose aim is to celebrate fashion, culture, music and arts in general.
He said the event seeks to bridge the gap between the creative industry and corporate world.

“As a way of celebrating our growing fashion industry, some of the best designers will dress renowned artists and other creatives,” he said.
During the red carpet event, which will feature performances, fashion showcase and discussions, there will also be presentation of awards to individuals and firms that have contributed immensely to the growth of the creative sector in the country.
Some of the individuals set to be honoured for their contribution to the creative sector include veteran promoter Jai Banda, widely known as Mr Entertainer, and fashion designer Lilly Alfonso.
