Education Minister Bright Msaka has said the ongoing Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations have started well.
He made the remarks in Lilongwe Tuesday after inspecting centres such as Lilongwe Girls Secondary School, which last year registered a 100 percent pass rate.
Msaka said 162,927 candidates are sitting examinations across the country.
“Monitoring teams have, so far, found the process to be smooth and orderly.

“Since Monday, we have received no report of an incident that is of concern. I am proud and happy to say these are the best and most organised examinations ever experienced. This is also the start of a long journey of free secondary education, as most candidates had their examination fees paid by the government,” Msaka said.
Lilongwe Girls Secondary School Head teacher Loyce Kumtamula said candidates had settled well into the examinations.
“The expectation now is that we are going to have a 100 percent pass rate as we had last year. We are expecting the same results this year,” Kumtamula said.
