Miss University Africa beauty pageant, which was supposed to be held from March 14 to 31 2024 in Nigeria, has been postponed.
The organisers have since said they will communicate the new dates later.
The current Miss University Malawi beauty queen and former Miss Culture Malawi First Princess Mwasalipa Mfune is set to represent the country at the pageant.
President for Miss University Africa, Taylor Nazzal, said the pageant had been postponed because “some delegates are Moslems and that the decision is in the interest of religious tolerance and respect for Islam and the month of Ramadan”.

“About 16 Muslim delegates had requested for us to postpone it. So, we decided to postpone it until after Ramadan. Ramadan ends in April, so we will sit with the hotel (camp for delegates) and airlines to come up with an early date for the competition,” he said.
A total of 52 countries, out of 55 in Africa, are set to participate in the competition.
