Silver Strikers ended Mighty Wanderers’ FDH Bank Cup dreams in dramatic fashion two weeks ago and could potentially dent their TNM Super League title ambitions today.
The two teams will lock horns in a top-of-the-table league clash at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe this afternoon.
It will be a battle of characters and egos.
Wanderers are the only unbeaten side in the league this far and will face yet another big test of character.
The Nomads go into the battle bruised and battered following a dramatic 5-4 loss to Silver in the final at the same venue a fortnight ago.

Silver, on the other hand, have a spring in their step having enjoyed dominance over Wanderers in recent matches in all competitions.
This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season after a 1-1 stalemate in the TNM Super League first round at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The Nomads have failed to beat Silver for two consecutive years having last beaten the Central Bankers 1-0 in a league match at Kamuzu Stadium in 2023.
Last season, Silver enjoyed a double over Wanderers, including beating them 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium to end their 11-year wait for a league title.

The Bankers also beat the Nomads 2-0 in the first round at Silver Stadium.
In the last nine league matches between the two teams, Wanderers have won thrice whereas Silver have registered four victories with two matches ending in a stalemate.
The Nomads lead the 16-member table with 51 points from 21 matches whereas Silver are third having amassed 40 points after fulfilling 20 fixtures.
This means any slip up for either side would dent their title ambitions.
But Wanderers can lose top spot should FCB Nyasa Big Bullets get maximum points in tomorrow’s match against Civil Service United at Kamuzu Stadium.
Bullets are second on the table with 50 points from 22 matches.
On the other hand, Silver’s title defence would suffer a drawback if they drop points today.
The Central Bankers have only lost twice in the league this season, both against Bullets.
They lost 1-0 in the league opener at BNS before enduring a 2-1 loss in the second round.
Coach Peter Mgangira has steadied Silver this season with discipline, fighting spirit and confidence.
The defending champions are indeed looking like a changed side under Mgangira.
In this afternoon’s encounter, the hosts will be without defence pillar Maxwell Paipi who is serving red card.
But Mgangira has several options at the back, including Nickson Mwase, Macdonald Lameck and Innocent Shema.
Similarly, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira has assembled a good squad.
The Nomads are also a changed side this season having regained confidence.
Wanderers have received a boost as Wisdom Mpinganjira and Gaddie Chirwa could be available for today’s match.
Defender Timothy Nyirenda could also pass late fitness test.
