Association of Malawi (Ntam) President Maxwell Chiphinga popularly known as Max DC dared fellow theatre practitioners in the country to advance their abilities through training for them to be at par with the world.
Chiphinga said this on Sunday at Chichiri Museum in Blantyre during a theatre for development training organised by Ntam Southern chapter facilitated by among others, Innocent Katsache, who is a University of Malawi drama graduate.
“Most of us, our talents are inborn, but we need to nurture these talents by patronising trainings to learn new things so as to serve better work,” Chiphinga said.
He said theatre for development is crucial as regards to disseminating key information to the masses.
“This training is timely taking into consideration that soon we will be engaged by players like Malawi Electoral Commission to disseminate information on elections and so, we need to be well equipped,” Chiphinga said.

He said Ntam will intensify more training for its members as part of capacity building in elevating the industry.
Katsache, who is also a playwright, said the training accorded theatre practitioners an opportunity to share ideas in serving people better through theatre.
“If we are to grow the theatre industry and offer more to the people and at the same time being creative, then we need trainings. We learn every day and so, I am happy to have also interacted with both veteran and budding players in the industry,” he said.
