Musician Pompi from Zambia will this weekend date Lilongwe and Blantyre sharing the stage with the country’s acts such as Suffix during Gospel Switch concerts.
It is a weekend that will be hectic for fun lovers with lots of events, some happening in the same city; same time and within the same vicinity and this is surely not healthy for the creative sector that taps into the same audience.
But all the same, people have to choose where to go with the Gospel Switch starting Saturday afternoon at Kigali Gardens in Lilongwe and then Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (Kuhes) Sports Complex in Blantyre on Sunday afternoon.
Gospel Switch concerts have been organised by Black Corporation with some strategic support of a youth organisation, Blantyre based church, Cornerstone as well as Amaryllis Hotel and Annie’s Lodge.
“There have been a lot of secular international acts, many shows like that in Malawi but few gospel events for both the youth and mature audience.

“So, this is a leap of faith with Pompi, who has consistently shown that he is willing to encourage the human race in his music through faith and praise and love songs,” Spokesperson Patricia Chunga said.
Apart from Suffix and Pompi, other artists performing at Gospel Switch are Kelvin Sings, Splendor, Grace, Faith Music, Paul Kachala and Cornerstone Psalmists.
Suffix said Thursday it was a pleasure for him to share the stage with Pompi.
“It is seven years of friendship with Pompi, he is family now and that is the most important thing in this music industry,” he said.
