Gospel artist Rudo Chakwera has urged well-wishers to support the Malawi National Netball Team ahead of the 2023 Netball World Cup finals set to run from July 28 to August 3 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Rudo made the call after cheering the Queens in camp at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Wednesday.
“The Queens need support from well-wishers. Every individual and organisation should do something to help as government alone cannot provide everything. The corporate world should, therefore, come in and complement the government in supporting the Queens,” Rudo said.
She encouraged the players to continue aiming high and put the country on the map at the global showpiece.
“The Queens are ranked sixth in the world. This means that you [players] are among the best. This ranking is not a mean achievement.

Therefore, go and do the country proud as you always do. Lift the Malawi flag as high as you can through your performances,” Rudo said.
Queens interim coach and Netball Association of Malawi Technical Director Samuel Kanyenda described the visit as an inspiration.
“It is always nice to receive words of wisdom. At this moment, we need support from every stakeholder. Our preparations are going on well and we hope to do well in South Africa,” Kanyenda said.
The Queens are in Group B of the competition alongside third-ranked England, 10th-placed Scotland and Barbados who are ranked 14th.
