Silver Strikers coach Peter Mponda has warned his charges against complacency in the TNM Super League title race.
The Central Bankers are enjoying a rich vein of form in the early stages of the campaign, topping the 16-member league with 19 points from seven matches, six points above defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and seven points better than Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
Silver will be hoping to continue with their top form when they host Karonga United at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe this afternoon.
However, Mponda is a worried man ahead of the tie.
’’We should be a little bit worried looking at how we played against Wanderers. It was easy to motivate the players in that game because they knew what beating Wanderers would mean. But now complacency is crippling in as some of them think that Karonga are an easy side. This cannot be true. Karonga are a very good team with a good coach, so we need to tread carefully when facing them.

’’The way we celebrated after beating Wanderers was a big concern to me. It was like we are a small team that has beaten a big team. But if you look at the silverware they have won and compare it to ours, we are a better side. Now what is going into our heads is that everything is look so easy because we are winning but we should continue working so hard. The league is a marathon which requires consistency,’’ the former Flames captain said. happening. Things may
Silver have a spring in their step after defeating Wanderers 2-0 at the same venue with goals from Chikondi Kamanga and Zebron Kalima on Sunday.
This is Silver’s sixth match at home in the eight matches they have played so far.
They have won all the six matches at home this season but dropped points in a 1-1 stalemate against Dedza at Dedza Stadium.

Karonga coach Oscar Kaunda has vowed to stop the high flying Silver at their own backyard.
“We know that Silver are unbeaten but every bird that flies has to land at some point. We are going to make history by becoming the first team to beat them. We will fight hard to get all the three points,’’ Kaunda said.
At Mzuzu Stadium, Wanderers and Mzuzu City Hammers will be looking to bounce back from their 2-0 losses at the hands of Silver and Bullets, respectively, when they face-off this afternoon.
The two teams are separated by one point with Hammers on third position having collected 13 points whereas Wanderers are fourth with 12 points from seven matches.
Elsewhere, Baka City will host fellow rookies Creck Sporting Club at Karonga Stadium this afternoon.
