Malawi National Women’s Football Team star Tabitha Chawinga provided an assist as French giants Paris Saint- Germain (PSG) Feminine qualified for the Uefa Women’s Champions League group stage following a 3-1 victory over Manchester United in Paris, France, on Wednesday night.
PSG went through 4-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg in England last week.
Tabitha netted the lone goal for PSG to earn them a vital point away from home.
The Malawian may not have registered her name on the score sheet but her contribution was significant as she kept United defenders busy all night, giving out an assist for PSG’s first and second goals, which came in the 17th and 48th minutes.
Tabitha continues to make history as she will be the first Malawian footballer to play in the Champions League group stages.

Tabitha expressed excitement with the achievement through a post on her Facebook page.
’’The smiles are back. Team PSG Feminine. We are through to the group stage of the Uefa Women’s Champions League,’’ she wrote.
Tabitha is on loan at PSG from Chinese side Wuhan Jiangda and has already scored two goals for the French giants.
She has one goal in the French Women’s League as well as another in the Champions League.

National Women’s Football Association Chairperson Adelaide Migogo hailed Tabitha for her exploits.
’’I am always impressed with her attitude on-and-off the pitch. I believe what she is achieving in France will motivate more local players to follow in her footsteps. She is surely a great ambassador for Malawi and is putting the country on the international map,’’ Migogo said.
The former DD Sunshine striker had a good season at Inter Milan in Italy where she was also on loan.
She took the Italian Women’s Football League by storm with 23 goals in 21 matches to win the Serie A Golden Boot award.
The feat saw her become the first African female player to lift such an accolade in Italy.
