There is a cloud of uncertainty over the test series matches between Malawi Netball National Team, the Queens, and South Africa’s Spar Proteas slated for August this year.
This comes after South African national broadcaster Sabc reported that the matches will be shifted from August to a later date due to the unavailability of some overseas players.
Netball South Africa (NSA) Chief Executive Officer Modiegi Komane was quoted on Sabc Wednesay as saying that the postponement is due to the request from coach Jenny Van Dyk, who wants more time to prepare for the test series.
“Some of them are coming in August; the coach has been in touch with their clubs. They have realised that leagues that side end at the beginning of August. We want to give the coach a chance to train with them. She confirmed it has been moved from August,’’ Komane is quoted as saying by Sabc.
Komane told Sabc that South Africa would not only play against Malawi this year but other teams as well.

However, Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) General Secretary Isaac Chimwala said there was no official communication from South Africa on the postponement of the test matches.
“For now, these are rumours. We will wait for them to communicate officially,” he said.
The postponement of the matches could be a big blow to new coach Joana Kachilika, who is yet to lead the team since she was appointed few months ago.
Malawi Queens are ranked seventh in the world whereas South Africa are fifth.
